A House of Representatives member elect, Chief Benjamin Kalu has expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for signing the N30,000 minimum wage into law.
The incoming Bende Federal Constituency member of House of Representatives in a release on Friday said President Buhari has demonstrated his commitment to promote the welfare of workers and Nigerians generally by signing the new minimum wage.
“I appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari for this kind gesture of signing into law, the minimum wage after several years of debate, as a way of showing Nigerian workers how much he cares for them and his readiness to advance their welfare.
“This goes a long way to show how much it matters to the Federal government that the Nigerian workers and their dependents live an improved standard of life” he said.
The legal practitioner also charged workers to reciprocate the gesture of the Federal government by stepping up their productivity and shunning corrupt practices. According to him, “ public servants were hired to add value to the growth of the nation,if you are not adding value, it means you are not fit for the salary increase”.
He maintained that through various poverty alleviation schemes of the federal government, President Buhari is keen on fighting poverty and improving the general welfare of every Nigerian.
