Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB was re-arrested in Kenya on June 2021, and repatriated to Nigeria.

Kanu’s re-arrest elicited unrest in the South-East region, which the State governors are trying to contain.
Reacting to the purported viral audio, Ejiofor in a twitter post called on the general public and supporters of Nnamdi Kanu to ignore such reports, describing it as fake.
“Please UMUCHINEKE, kindly ignore the audio message being mischievously promoted/circulated by the enemies of our people, to the effect that ONYENDU MAZI NNAMDI KANU is missing in DSS facility.
“The information is fake, a blatant lie and should be totally ignored by Ezigbo UMUCHINEKE.
Ejiofor, added that Kanu received some guests yesterday, Thursday, as a normal court-ordered routine day.
“As a matter of fact, court-ordered routine visit was conducted yesterday and ONYENDU spent time with those that visited him”, the IPOB lead counsel added.
