Armed bandits on Wednesday reportedly bombed a train travelling between Abuja and Kaduna, inflicting technical damages on the country’s major rail infrastructure.
Former Senator Shehu Sani said a train he rode between Kaduna and Abuja on Thursday morning nearly skid off its track because of an explosive planted by the bandits.
He also added that the bandits opened fire at the train targeting the driver and the tank.
Taking to his Facebook page to share the information, Mr. Sani called for the suspension of train operation from Abuja-Kaduna until the issue is is restored.
He wrote;
“Yesternight, Bandits attacked the Kaduna-Abuja train. They planted an explosive that damaged the rail
track and shattered the windshield of the train engine. They also opened fire,targeting the Driver and the Tank. It happened between Dutse and Rijana stations. The Driver struggled to move towards Kaduna Rigasa station.“This early morning, I was on board when our train ran over another explosive damaged railings. The train nearly skid off its track, then we miraculously escaped. All Kaduna Abuja train operations need to be suspended for today until this issue is addressed.
