The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has come under heavy criticism following an artwork being circulated online by his supporters.
The artwork which was created by one Akan David, portrayed Atiku as Jesus, who has come to bring salvation to the land.
Atiku who is pictured holding a Nigerian flag, while surrounded by people who look malnourished and hopeless, is yet to comment on the artwork.
The artwork has received condemnation online, especially from Christians who found it as blasphemy towards Christ Jesus, and also, following the fact that Atiku is a Muslim.
A social media influencer, @AfamDeluxo, who described the artwork as an insult to Christians, wondered what would happen up North if Peter Obi of Labour Party, is pictured as the Holy Prophet in Islam.
“This is the height of blasphemy and insult to Christians. Atiku’s team have been circulating this image since yesterday portraying Nwoke bum short as Jesus. Now Imagine Peter Obi pictured as the Holy Prophet in Islam, chaos would have erupted in the North. Atiku is evil,” Afam tweeted.

A twitter user, @IkukuomaC berated Atiku over the artwork, he recalled how Atiku deleted his tweet about Deborah, a Christian girl killed by Muslim fanatics in Sokoto last year for alleged blasphemy.
“Same man that deleted his tweet about Deborah.. Christianity has really suffered in the last eight years…Look at how Atiku Abubakar is mocking Christianity…..it’s so shameful.”
