The All Progressives Congress (APC) has indefinitely suspended Abia state governorship candidate of APC in the just concluded general elections, Chief Ikechi Emenike for alleged anti party activities.
This is even as the party issued a stern warning on zonal officials of South East against taking actions imminent of causing them expulsion from the party.
Emenike is said to be associating with opposition parties to undermine the strength of the APC in Abia state.
Notice of the suspension was signed by Goldie Nwagbara, state chairman of the party.
The decision to suspend Emenike was taken at an emergency executive state meeting on Monday afternoon in Umuahia
“The All Progressives Congress, Abia state held an emergency meeting on Monday April 24, 2023 and considered among many other things before it, the immediate suspension of the flag bearer of the party in the state, High Chief Ikechi Emenike over glaring and proven anti-party activities, harassment of party members and creating crisis within the ranks of the party at all levels which if left unchecked will affect the party growth of the party in the state,” the suspension notice to Emenike reads.
“Therefore, in compliance with the relevant provisions of the constitution of our great party, the members of the working committee have adopted and approved the suspension of High Chief Ikechi Emenike indefinitely. The party will also take serious actions on the representatives and officials of the party at zonal level.
“The gang ups, extortion and support of illegalities are closely monitored. Any attempt to proceed on hatchet jobs against Honourable members of the party will be firmly resisted with due consequences” It read .
