The Abia State chapter of All Progressive Congress, APC, has reacted to the just concluded Local Government election in Abia.
APC, in a statement signed by the State party publicity secretary, Comrade Benedict Godson, called on the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC, to cancel election in six LGAs.
Abacityblog.com reported that ABSIEC under supervision of Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa, had on 18th December, 2020 conducted LGA election. This is even as the outcome showed that the state ruling party, PDP swept all the LGAs including Councillorship positions.
Reacting, APC in a statement said there was no election in six LGAs, namely; Bende, Arochukwu, Ohafia, Ugwunagbo, Aba South and Aba North, hence the need to cancel results emanating from the mentioned LGAs.
According to APC, “The problem we have today is that we’re left with a society that thinks that somethings does not matter. The basic problem of Nigeria is from the Local Government and the only opportunity we had to correct ours in Abia was hijacked by the Peoples Democratic Party and their agents in Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC).
“It’s a pity that a political party that has been running, roaming about and shouting about free and fair election could be given a simple opportunity to coordinate an LGA election to show the word something, but they decided to showcase their usual stock in trade which is massive rigging and forceful imposition of leadership.
“Let’s set the record straight, Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa has done what he was paid to do and All Progressives Congress, Abia State Chapter reject all results of this Local Government Chairmanship charade called election.
“The election was just an absurd pretence intended to create a pleasant or respectable means of re-appointing the usual 17 financial conduit pipes used in syphoning Abia’s common wealth.
“Don’t get our message twisted, we’re not saying people didn’t vote in all the 17 LGAs. What we’re saying is that Abia people voted massively for the APC where elections took place, but ABSIEC did the job PDP asked them to do which is to change the results.
“For the records, there was no election in Bende, Arochukwu, Ohafia, Ugwunagbo, Aba South and Aba North LGAs. We’re calling for the cancellation of all the deceitful and falsified results produced by ABSIEC in those six LGAs.
“As for Ukwa East, we’re calling for Chief Ugochuckwu Nduwuisi to be declared the winner of that election because he won it. This is the first time in history where people voted and after voting, the LGA secretariat was locked up and all materials were taken to the house of a big PDP leader in Ukwa East where they changed everything to suit their plans. Today, we’ve seen how the whole LGA was thrown into pandemonium because of that.
“As for Umunneochi LGA, we’re calling that Hon. Frank Chucks be declared winner of that election because he won handsomely and anything short of declaring him winner is tantamount to denying the people of Umunneochi their wishes.
“You can see how they’re manufacturing results in LGAs like Obingwa in a Local Government Area election shamelessly without thinking twice. I’m sure the press and observers so the level of participation and can see the results that PDP and ABSIEC are writing out.
“Take a good look at Abia State and tell me why any Abian will want PDP to continue ruling them? Is it the disgraceful long years of PDP in the Government House or the embarrassing situation Abians have found themselves under this loquacious, but crippled administration?
“The reality is that they’ve been forcing themselves into power and they did it again in the Friday show of shame by a man called a Professor with reckless abandon. A man who should know better has allowed people who don’t care about tomorrow to use him to destroy things they can never amend till they leave this earth.
“As far as we’re concerned, all the Chairmanship candidates of PDP returned by ABSIEC in that charade called election are illegitimate chairmen, all PDP Councillorship candidates forced on Abians are illegitimate Councilors.
“And we’ll endeavour to add the name of Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa among the list of election riggers and killers of democracy that should be denied visa anywhere in diaspora because, he has done this generation and those yet unborn a great disservice.
“We called for this LGA election which the PDP reluctantly accepted because they know very well that LGAs are their biggest money stealing channels in Abia. They appoint their loyalists who help to keep monies meant to develop rural areas for them. Their lives depend on allocation that are coming to LGAs and they’ve demonstrated it again.
“Mkpa should realize that he’s the reason why Abia rural dwellers including those from his immediate family will keep suffering. All those who wrote results for the PDP should realize that they are responsible for the death of all those pregnant women that may die as a result of poor health facilities in our rural health centres.
“All those who sponsored Mkpa Agu Mkpa to steal the mandate of our people should realize that they are the once making our rural youths jobless and hopeless because the Local Government is the only Government closer to them. They should also not forget the consequences of having unemployed youths in rural areas.
“Which LGA in Abia State today can boast of any plans for Abia Youths? Now the people came out to pick their choice of leaders, the same criminals that think Abia must remain stagnant for them to keep moving, decided to stop it.
“As a party, we’ll announce our next step soon, but this message is meant to inform the whole world that PDP and ABSIEC led by Prof Mkpa Agu Mkpa, former Commissioner and former Secretary to State Government in same PDP government. Their rigging agent has taken their madness too far and must be stopped.
