Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abia State Chapter has congratulated the Abia State Governor-elect, Dr. Alex Otti of Labour Party.
In a congratulatory message signed by Mr Stanley Mba, AGN, Abia State chairman and Moira Mbah, described Otti’s election victory as a divine one which came at the right time when the state is yearning for a quality leadership.
Mr. Mba said Otti’s exemplary leadership in the banking sector is a testament that he will lead Abia to the right path.
The AGN state chairman also asked Dr. Otti not to allow A lists (Movie stars) who have no voting power in Abia politics to distract him from what his administration has already prepared for recognised Nollywood guilds and associations existing in the state which they tops the list.
The full statement read:
“On behalf of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abia State Chapter, we write to congratulate you on your recent and well-deserved victory at the just concluded polls, as the next Governor of our dear State Abia.
“We commend your doggedness and commitment which led to your emergence, as widely celebrated by Ndi Abia.
“Indeed, your election comes at a time when Abia is in dire need of a great leader like you, with strong visionary acumen to strategically drive Abians’ collective agenda and restore the glory of the State by making her truly number one in the most populous black nation.
“With your proven track record, your charismatic and exemplary leadership as a Banker, Investor, and Philanthropist, we have great TRUST in your readiness and capacity to successfully fulfill the mandate given to you by Ndi Abia by properly harnessing the potentials of the State for greatness.
“Sir, having assured of rebuilding our pride as Strong stakeholders in Nollywood, we urge you to please, grant our Noble Guild its rightful place in your administration.
“Do not allow those without voting power, who only visit the state and the government house as Abians, in the name of A lists (Movie stars) whenever there is a transition in government, to take away the position your administration has designed for recognised Nollywood guilds and associations existing in the state which ours (AGN) tops the list.
“These A-lists neither visit the Abia Chapter of our guild nor pay dues, they neither attract movies to the state nor film in the state, yet they visit Government house and top government officials in the name of Actors without the Knowledge of the state chapter leadership, an abnormality that characterised previous governments including the current government.
“This we urge your administration to correct as this was part of what destroyed the growth of Nollywood in the state.
“As a democrat of repute, we are sure you will deliver and be rest assured of our Guild’s unflinching support and prayers.
“We look forward to collaborating with your incoming administration to advance the goals of our Noble Guild, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
“Please accept our best wishes for a successful term in office and for your continued good health and well-being.
