An Access Bank manager identified as Mr Nwaru Jerry Nnamdi, has been arrested in Ketu branch for alleged N14m fraud in the bank.
The Nnamdi was arrested and charged for allegedly stealing the money while refilling the bank’s ATM Vault.
An employee who suspected Nnamdi was engaging in illegal dealings reported the case to the Ikoyi Division of Nigeria Police Force, Ikoyi, Lagos State.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the station, CSP Tijani Mustapha N’abba, subsequently directed his men led by Inspector Afolayan Babashola; an action that led to the arrest of the Access Bank Manager.
Nwaru was arraigned before the Igbosere Chief Magistrate`s Court on Thursday, June 11 on a four-count charge among other, bothering on conspiracy, fraud and stealing.
However, Magistrate Mrs K.O Doja Ojo, declined to entertain the matter on the ground that the charge did not fall into the category of the emergency cases approved for the court to handle.
Mrs Doja told the police to keep him in prison until the coronavirus crisis is over for proper arraignment.
Upon investigation done by the forensic auditors from the bank’s headquarters it was discovered that the suspect stole N14m between May and December 2019 through false accounting.
