The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji yesterday visited a PDP stalwart and former member of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Isaac Chukwuemeka Ejiogu at his country home in Umuezeoma Ohuhu, Umuahia North LGA of the state.
While addressing the Speaker who arrived to a tumultuous welcome by youths and women of the community, Hon Ejiogu said he was pleased by the presence of the Speaker in his abode and by his performance in the discharge of his duties, saying the Speaker’s family has been good to his people.
He recalled how he once notified Senator T.A. Orji, Senator representing Abia Central, about the community’s electricity transformer which had been vandalised by hoodlums and had thrown them into darkness for weeks, and how the Senator replaced the transformer with urgency which made the community to start enjoying power again.
The former House member said the community has always been that of PDP and that they will continue to support the PDP.
While encouraging the Speaker to remain focused and not be dismayed by any challenges ahead, he promised that the people will contiue to stand by him at all times and help ensure his victiory.
In his response, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji said amidst songs and chants by the women and the youths that the visit was to accord worthy respect to the host who served his father well while he was governor. He appreciated Hon Ejiogu whom he described as a political giant for his loyalty over the years, a virtue which the Speaker said has elevated him.
He appreciated the women and youths for turning out in their numbers to welcome him promising that he will reciprocate their kind gestures the more in due course.
The Deputy Chairman of Umuahia North LGA, Hon Bob Agbugba, former TC Chairman of Umuahia North LGA, Chief Lucky Akabuike, the Youth Director of the Speaker’s campaign council, Mr Benjamin Ifeanyi Apugo were among other dignitaries who accompanied the Speaker on the visit.
