Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji was yesterday at the home of Sir Eric Opah to commiserate with him as he buried his father, Chief (Nze) Joseph Azubuike Opah who died at the age of 90.
The Speaker who said he was duty bound to be with Sir Eric Opah on the day he buried his father because of the relationship existing between Sir Opah and the Senator T.A. Orji, a relationship the Speaker said he cherishes so much and wishes to sustain because of the kind of person he said Sir Opah is: a man of courage, forthrightness and truth, and that us why he is endeared to him and the Opah household.
The Speaker said the late Chief Opah would be happy and proud of his son where he is and urged Sir Eric Opah to sustain his father’s legacies. He expressed gratitude to the good people of Isiala Ngwa for their support over the years.
He prayed God to grant the soul of the departed Chief (Nze) Joseph Azubuike Opah eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Responding, Sir Eric Opah thanked the Speaker for coming to commiserate with him and his family and for the kind words he volunteered towards him. He said he has come to know Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji as a man of honour and goodwill.
Sir Opah reiterated that his father and the Speaker’s father were so close that the bond of friendship between the two families cannot be broken. He emphasised his commitment to sustain his father’s legacy.
The visit which took place at Sir Eric Opah’s country home in Mbubo Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North LGA had the Lawmaker representing Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency, Hon Darlington Nwokocha, Head of Service, Sir Onyii Wamah, Dr Reuben Obioma Orji, Traditional Rulers, community leaders and other dignitaries in attendance.
