Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji has told Local Government Chairmen and Councillors to build their capacity in order to meet the yearnings of their people at the grassroots.
The Speaker stated this while speaking at a 2-Day Capacity Building Workshop organised by Hon Darlington Nwokocha, Member representing Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, and Hon Ginger Onwusibe, Member representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly, for elected LGA officials in Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency, Abia State.
He admonished the participants to make best use of the opportunity presented by the workshop by assimilating and putting the lessons learnt into practice.
The Abia State Number One Lawmaker also advised the participants to imbibe the virtue of humility and not be confrontational in the discharge of their duties but operate in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility for the sake of their people.
The Speaker who told citizens to criticise government policies constructively urged those present to avoid personal attacks that heat up and create rancorous situations in the polity.
While commending the organisers of the workshop for the quality of both human and material resources deployed, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji described Hon Darlington Nwokocha and Hon Ginger Onwusibe as Legislators with the interest of the people at heart, saying their people-oriented projects even as lawmakers are exemplary and worthy of emulation.
He thanked the Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu who was also present at the event for always standing by his friends, saying it is an attribute of good leadership.
