- …urges all Abia South electorates to get ready to make positively decisive change
The Abia South Senatorial District candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 election, Hon. Dame Blessing Nwagba on Thursday threw a vote of thanks to the leadership of the party, all delegates and members for electing her as the party’s flag bearer.
Nwagba, a two-term member of the Abia State House of Assembly and the Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 2019 extended a special thank you to APC leader in the state, High Chief Ikechi Emenike for his transparent leadership style which she says is worthy of emulation.
Addressing party leaders which include Abia South Zonal Chairman of APC, all the six LGA Chairmen of APC in Abia South, Abia APC woman leader, Abia APC treasurer and so many stakeholders including coordinators of her political movement, Nwagba said she cannot find the right words to express her gratitude to all of them.
She added that inasmuch as she is aware that she is qualified to run for the Senate in her District, qualification alone is not enough to win a ticket, adding that it takes support, trust, love and dedication from leaders and party faithful and stakeholders to get a ticket to run for the position.
According to her, “I know I’m qualified but it takes the grace of God and all of you whom God used to place me where I’m today. I thank God for His grace, I thank High Chief Ikechi Emenike for his leadership style and all of you leaders of our great party for the roles you played.
“With great humility, I thank you all and I want to reiterate the fact that this is your project and I want all of us to ensure that come 2023, we’ll be involved in the swearing-in.
“I have heard many reporters say I’m a woman and I’ll be up against some people well, I know some of those people and I know I started with and before some of them. I’m glad that I’m a woman and I’ll love to remain a woman. To me, being a woman is even an advantage.
“There’s no panic or fear in me. I’m entering the election with all dexterity and with the grace of God and the support of all of you and our constituents who know what we are capable of bringing to better their lives, there’s no reason to look back.
“I’m sure God will give us the grace and provide the resources for the journey ahead. Once again, I thank you and urge you to see this project as your project for the betterment of our Senatorial District.”
