A student of Abia State Polytechnic Aba, (Abia Poly) has been hospitalized after he was manhandled by the school security during exam yesterday, September 20th, 2022.
A video obtained by AbaCityBlog shows the young man being roughly manhandled and pinned down by the security men who were acting on the order of a lecturer and an invigilator who was overseeing the examination exercise.
A student who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said the victim committed no crime that warrants such humiliation, adding that the young man was nearly stripped naked by the security men.
“He did nothing he only came to write his exams everyone knows he always come late for exams”, the student said.
Narrating what transpired and why he was humiliated, our source said he came late during the exam, but the lecturer stood him up for 30 minutes before giving him answer sheet and question papers.
“They stood him up for 30mins before giving him answer sheet and question paper. For (him) to start writing, the invigilator took his answer sheet and told him he would repeat the course next semester.
“The boy got angry and told the man to give him back his answer sheet but the man walked him out of the hall and boy left”.
“While trying to leave the hall a female lecturer tried dragging him back buh the boy refused she then called the security men and asked the boy to kneel down buh he still refused and they started beating him.
Our source further noted that the security men allegedly marched him on the chest while he was pinned down.
“(They) marched him on his chest and the guy fainted and was rushed to the hospital. We didn’t know the guy is asthmatic and has heart problem.
