Abia Police command has alerted financial institutions and residents in the state over planned attack by a suspected robbery gang.
Abia Police spokesperson, Geoffrey Ogbonna, said the gang has been mopping up arms in and around the state’s capital city Abia, where they will stage the attack.
Ogbonna warned residents to avoid moving about with huge amounts of cash while he urged banks to adopt stronger security measures.
The police has offered N5million reward for anyone with information on the gang.
The Nation reported, Abia Police spokesman revealed the Planned attack in a statment signed by the Command’s spokesman, Geoffrey Ogbonna, on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon on Sunday, 29 September.
The police statement stated: “Any member of the public with credible information that will lead to the arrest of the members of the gang should give it directly to the commissioner of Police for the purpose of absolute confidentiality.”
“Members of the public are assured of the state government and Abia Police Command’s resolve to assure the protection of life and property of all law-abiding citizens of the state.”
