The member representing Bende Federal Constituency, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has emphasised that it is now ripe for him to celebrate his Appeal Court victory where charges of irregularities against his February 2019 election were dismissed.
This is following the Thursday victory of the leader of APC in Abia state and the Senate Chief Whip’s victory, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu over his challenger, Sen. Mao Ohuabunnwa of PDP at Appeal Court.
In a congratulatory release on Thursday made available to ABN TV, Benjamin Kalu, a legal practitioner reiterated his confidence on the judiciary which he said is a critical ingredient in making democracy thrive.
He noted that it was difficult for him to wear his dancing shoes in celebration of his victory which was announced earlier while his leader’s case was still pending in court.
While hailing the ruling of the Appeal Court affirming the election of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the duly elected senator for Abia North, he added that it is an indication that the will of the people cannot be thwarted by a Machiavellian conspiracy and gang up.
The federal lawmaker expressed his readiness to redefine the history of representation in the area.
He added that he is confident that Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu is poised to delivering a historic representation to the people of Abia North now that all distractions are over.
He called for all hands irrespective of political differences to be on deck in building an Abia North that history will reckon with.
