- Press Release by All Progressive Congress, APC, Abia State chapter.
Our 29 years of creation is really worth celebrating because, nothing is as good as seeing one having a place he can call his own. So, Abia is our state and we must be happy we’re 29 years today. The entire leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) celebrate with Abians.
Congratulations to all those who have made it alive to see this day. We must also not in anyway disregard or forget those who couldn’t make it due to death. God knows the best and it’s our duty now to give them the Abia our their dreams because they deserve it.
Our founding fathers had visions and missions for Abia. And our celebration cannot be complete until we give them the heroic praise they deserved. Their efforts in making Abia a reality is unquantifiable. We hail them, we thank them and we salute them.
Of a truth, Abia is currently like a train without an engine. Our state is static and stagnant because of clumsy leadership in place, coupled with mundane political manoeuvres that have made Abia look very allergic to growth and development.
In an age where other states are celebrating wonderful infrastructural development and multiplicity of super highways of road networks all over their cities, Abia is crawling and celebrating a roundabout at Obikabia Junction, in Ogbor-Hill, Aba.
To some, this is laughable, but to us as a party, it’s something every Abian should cry and weep about. This current administration came into power the same day with majority of their colleagues in our neighbouring states, but today, who’ll compare Abia with any neighbouring state? We’re crawling while they’re running.
No single important road has been constructed and completed in Aba and Umuahia for complete five years. The current administration always shy away from the simple thing our people want and need, but choose to play to the gallery whenever they think they did one laughable project.
As at today 27th August, 2020 most important roads in Aba like, Port Harcourt, Obohia road, Ngwa road, Ohanku road, Omuma road, Old Express road, Amaukwu road and Ayaba-Umeze road are getting worst and our people are suffering on these roads.
This PDP administration has been constructing drainage at Aba-Owerri road since 2015. They did Eziukwu road halfway and abandoned it while minor streets like Osusu and Immaculate are yet to be completed.
They have special skills of cutting roads into three to four parts during any of their unending constructions just to confuse the unsuspecting residents about their deceitful seriousness. They always tell you Aba road in Umuahia is completed, but they’ll never say it didn’t get to the whole of Old Umuahia to Ubakala.
Even the Ururuka road that leads to the Governor’s village, this administration is still dancing masquerade dance around it. Making mockery of themselves and abusing our sensibilities with their “Ogbuoge Road Construction Company” that keeps giving our
disorganized and directionless construction everywhere they go.
No part of Abia is really motorable. Ukwa the only oil producing area in the state is looking like an abandoned area. People are now cut off from their neighbouring communities, as bad roads have practically carved a new republic in Ukwa land as rich as she is.
Here is a state that has no enough teachers in our public secondary schools, but this administration was bold enough to sack over 5,000 teachers it employed with the excuse that their employment wasn’t legal.
But they watched from 2018-2020 when their appointee in SEMB was busy collecting huge amount of money from those innocent Abians for employment in their own state. God is alive, we must remember.
Even in this era of Covid-19, when we should respect our doctors and medical personnel more, Abia State is still owing doctors over 13-14 months salary arrears and owing those at Abia Polytechnic over 20 months salary arrears. Honestly Judas Iscariot is a learner here.
It’s unfortunate that after 29 years, Abia still see salary payment as an achievement. This administration has so much impoverished our people to the extent that any crumb from their tables is appreciated by a large population of people they’ve made permanently hungry.
However bad things are, there’s hope. Our hope is in 2023. We cannot continue to allow men with sugar coated mouth to lead us. Men who talk too much and do less. Men who have no conscience at all. Men who think that Abia start and end in their various houses.
We must retrieve our state from these brood of vipers whose poisonous mal-administration has turned Abia into a state for caricature in Nigeria.
To our teachers, our doctors and all our Civil Servants, as we celebrate our 29 years of creation in pain, agony and empty stomach, we stand by you and urge you never to give up because the Egyptians you see today, you shall see no more.
Our message to these oppressors of our people is biblical and Prophetic. From Abia North, Abia South to Abia Central, we urge them to look at the handwriting on the streets which says: “mene, mene, tekel, upharsin”. God had weighed their wickedness on Abians and had found them wanting, and will surely cast them out of this state come 2023.
Cry not too much fellow Abians for “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Yes, this nights have lingered so much, but morning must come and will remain. One thing we know and is definite in our heart is that our tomorrow as Abians shall be greater than our today.
As we celebrate, let’s remember those who don’t have anything. Go round to them, share whatever you have. Give gifts to them and encourage them to stay strong for this tribulation will end very soon.
As long as God lives and remains the ultimate captain of our ship, He’ll never allow these future unlicensed captains in charge of our Government house to sink us all.
