A group under the aegis of Abia Women Peace Initiative, AWPI, has endorsed renowned chemical scientist and philanthropist, Mr. Kalu Ijomah Ukeh as its preferred candidate for the 2023 governorship in the state.
The secretary of the group, Princess Nkechi Ubani, said the endorsement of Kalu Ijomah followed “a number of critical considerations which include the state of Abia State and the situation of APC in the state.”
Ubani, in a statement titled, ‘Abia 2023 – Mr. Kalu Ijomah Ukeh chosen to run for Abia State Governor’, said the choice of Ukeh was arrived at “after a thorough search for a successor to the outgoing administration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.”
The statement read in part, “We chose Kalu Ijomah Ukeh, who reflects the yearning of the generality of members of the Abia State APC and the corporate aspiration of Ndi Abia as our preferred candidate based on the need to put a formidable candidate forward to face the Peoples Democratic Party”.
She described Ijomah Ukeh as a seasoned technocrat with a solid wealth of experience that would transform Abia state.
