Indigenes of Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State have emphasised the need for them to produce the successor of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in 2023.
This position was put forward by political group, Mben Political Assembly of Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, which canvassed that the governorship position be zoned to Abia North and to Ohafia in particular.
TheIndependent, quoted Eme Uche Onuh, president of the group, who was flanked by his vice, Uka Iro Ukpai, and other executive directors, as made public the position of the people of Ohafia Udumeze during a media briefing in Umuahia on Monday.
They emphasised that of the three clans that make up the council area – Ohafia, Abiriba and Nkporo – it is the Ohafia Udumeze that has been grossly schemed out when it comes to elective positions.
According to him, Nkporo which is where the incumbent deputy governor, Ude Okochukwu, hails from has produced a former member at the House of Representative in the person of Prince Arua Arunsi while the remaining clan, Abiriba, has been in support to their ambition of producing the next governor in 2023.
The group, which coded the project ‘Ohafia for Abia Governor 2023’ said their decision was reached after their recent assembly of elders and senior citizens from Ohafia Udumeze at Achichi Elu Ohafia, demanding for the position of the state governor.
