The Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu yesterday played a host to the former House of Reps member, Hon. Emeka Atuma, who represented Ikwuano and Umuahia federal constituency in the National Assembly.
Atuma was at Kalu’s Camp Neya Igbere Home to solicit his approval and support to run for the office of the Abia governorship position in 2023.
The aspirant, who is running under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC, said he is ready to bring the desirable change Abians are yearning for. According to him, Abia is in a precarious situation in the hand of the PDP, noting that he will be contesting to win under the APC.
Atuma stressed that he is ready in “Spirit and Consciousness”, but only seeking Kalu’s support as a stakeholder and a Chieftain of the party.
Speaking, Senator Kalu said Atuma’s declaration is an honor to his party, the APC. He said, Atuma is among the three aspirants that have told him their intentions to run for the office of the governor come 2023.
He noted that at the end of everything, only a serious Candidate will have his vote.
In his words: “what you did today is an honour to our great party, the APC. You’re among the three aspirants that have come to me to declare their intentions. I’m happy for you and I encourage you to be prayerful to receive the governorship ticket.
“I want to assure you that if you’re serious and ready to bring unity and progress in our state, I will support you. Our party can only support who is serious and ready to work. We can’t give our ticket to an unserious candidate.
Speaking earlier, Atuma said he has already prepared his manifesto and knows the first thing he will do if elected as the governor in 2023.
