The Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu said he has kept his promise made to the Abians and residents of Aba following the completion of the Osisioma flyover.
Ikpeazu made the statement when he received the members of the Abia Online Media Practitioners on Saturday in the Abia State government house Umuahia.
The governor who said he understands the importance of good roads as an enabler in which trade and commerce thrives, said he built Osisioma flyover to enable a free flow of traffic at Osisioma junction.
He said: “Before now, it took an average of 2hrs to navigate beyond Osisioma junction in Aba due to excruciating gridlock”, Ikpeazu said.
The governor further noted that he is very happy seeing commuters drive the Osisioma junction without hurdles.
“One can only imagine how happy I am to watch commuters now drive seamlessly through that hitherto knotty axis: travel time has substantially reduced, money is saved and access to our major markets enhanced.
According to Ikpeazu, “The adjoining Aba-Owerri Rd now has world class functional drainages end to end, reconstructed and adorned with street traffic lights to further make usage more pleasant for both motorists and pedestrians.
Gov Ikpeazu who became the first governor in Abia since 1999 to build a flyover, said, the greatest beneficiaries of these “strategic infrastructure we have put in place may not be the traditional politicians but the smile on the faces of Aba traders is my cherished trophy.”
