Thinking Outside the Box for Christmas Gifts This Year
We all remember that time we got the perfect gift. It might have been a shirt, a game system, a hat, a pair of shoes, a pen, a computer, a pet, a car, a house, or even a written letter from a beloved son or daughter. Whatever the case, you’ve been there. Since it is now the season of gifts, you want to give someone else the same joy you’ve experienced.
Following we’ll briefly explore four thoughtful gift ideas for the season. Maybe these work for you, or maybe they don’t, but hopefully, at a minimum they get the wheels turning in your mind.
1. Exotic Snacks
A honeycomb covered in chocolate is delicious. It’s not real honeycomb, it’s bad for your teeth, but it’s a perfect Christmas treat. Something else you can do is look into those Mexican candies that are covered in chili powder. Now, the recipient may not like chili-flavored candy, so this might be a joke gift. You can dare each other to try these weird candies.
There are always exotic foods out there that haven’t been tried. Some of the most delicious come from Japanese stores like Daiso. We do tend to get stuck in our own cultural traditions. When you can help introduce something to their next “obsession”, that’s a fine gift.
2. Something Artistic
Music, movies, posters, lava lamps, Bluetooth disco balls, and LED lights that flash with the music; these are all fine artistic gifts. Sculptures, statues, figurines; you can list many things that could fall under the artistic niche. Accordingly, find something that matches the aesthetic sensibilities of the person for whom you’re buying a gift.
3. A Gift That is Legitimately Fun
Food is tasty, and aesthetic gifts enhance a living space, but neither are fun. You know what’s fun? An Airsoft gun, a paintball gun, ice skates, a go-cart, a jet-ski, moon boots, wheeled shoes like “Heelys”, nerf guns, water pistols, laser pointers, glow sticks, inflatable floats in warm areas where snow doesn’t come during winter, skis, snowboards; you get the idea. Get them something fun.
4. Give Them Something That Fills a Real Need
We all have needs. Maybe you’ve been to your friend or family member’s house, and they need a lamp. Maybe they need a heater or something to cool down the room where they live. Maybe they need new boots. Maybe they need some gloves or a hat. Perhaps you can afford a small scooter to help them in their daily commute. Get them something they really need.
A Gift They Will Remember
It really is the thought that counts. Even if you don’t get the perfect gift, the person who receives it can tell you cared and put thought into it, they’ll love it; even if not for the reason you intended. So look into exotic snacks, maybe buy something artistic, explore fun gifts, and when all else fails, get them something that they actually need. Such gifts will make an impression.
