Nollywood actor and producer, Yul Edochie has shared three simple ways intended actors and actresses can join the Nollywood industry.
Yul, an ace actor, who runs a movie academy – shared the information in a YouTube video.
He urged those that have an interest in joining Nollywood industry to stop seating in their comfort zone, sending messages to establish actors and actresses, begging them for help by connecting them to Nollywood movies producers and directors.
Although, he said he did the same thing while starting his career after graduating as a “Theater Art Student” in the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Yul, whose father, Pete Edochie has become a household name in the Nollywood industry, said during his days of beginning, he did not ride on his father’s name, rather he went out and hustle his way through the Nigerian movie industry.
Listing the three simple ways one can join Nollywood, Yul said if intended actors and actresses will put the ideas into work, they can get hooked up with the right connection.
Simple Ways To Join Nollywood
1. Ready Your Craft
As an intended actor or actress, you need to always stay ready because opportunities may knock at your door at any time if you’re hustling for it.
Yul said he didn’t seat on his comfort zone or rode on his father’s established name, so he believes if you are serious about your craft, you should ready your craft.
2. Join and Register With Nollywood Official Governing Body
Intended Actors and Actresses are advised to join Nollywood official governing body which is “Actors Guild Of Nigeria”.
The aforementioned Nollywood governing body has an official website; actorsguildofnigeria.com – where intended actors and actresses can register and join the movie industry.
3. Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone
This is the part that requires zeal, consistence and motivation. As an intended actor or actress, you need to get out of your comfort zone.
According to Yul, intended actors and actresses need to get out of their comfort zones. This means, you need to stay closer to where films are being made. Go to film location and make yourself available for auditioning.
He also advised, intended actors and actresses, if possible relocate from their city of residence to cities where movies are being produced to enable them get the current movie locations, storm the place, hook up with actors, producers and directors.
Nollywood Movie Locations (Current Most Used Cities in Nigeria)
According to Yul Edochie, cities most used by Nollywood movie producers in Nigeria are; Owerri (Imo State); Enugu (Enugu State); Lagos (Lagos State); Asaba (Delta State) and Awka in Anambra State.
He urged intended actors and actresses to relocate into the listed cities and always follow up movie productions to get up to date movie locations to be able to meet the actors and actresses on set.
