Mr. Lawal Taiwo, a 25 years old currently a member of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has asked his state governor, Dapo Abiodun, to appoint him as a commissioner in his ongoing nomination of commissioners in Ogun State.
Taiwo is requesting to occupy the officer of Commissioner for Youth and Sport in Ogun. According to him, if his request is granted and confirmed, he will be pushing for the hosting right of the 21st National Sport festival in 2022 after upgrading the MKO stadium, Dipo dina, Muda Lawal, Ilaro stadium.
Taiwo also urged the Gov Abiodun to follow the footstep of Kwara and Oyo governors who appointed youths to man the post of Youths and Sports in their respective states.
Making the request via twitter, Taiwo wrote;
“Your exellency @dabiodunMFR Out of love for my state and having been inspired by likes of @TheSeunFakorede of Oyo and 26yr Joana Kolo of @kwaragovt I wish to state my loadful willingness to serve under you as Commissioner for Youth and Sport in our dear state OGUN.
“If Nominated and confirmed. For a better result i shall look to deal with Youth&Sport differently All about our youth today is not sport and everything about sport is not youth. I shall treat the youth department very sensitively just as i take Sport too very critically.
“Although we’ll hope to achieve a great level of synergy BTW both departments but their successes are not contingent on each other. Young kids of Ogun will be needing sport to develop very well. Same for the Aged people. they’ll have to sport for a better quality of life.
“Our youths also want to do more than play football, cricket, tennis, swimming etc.They want to sing. They want to rap, dance, Crack jokes and make money from other talents not rooted in sport. To this we shall provide best Talent hunt platform in the country and Africa.
“Sportingly, We shall engage our kids, youth immensly in an age group sporting galore tagged: EreMode, OdoYewe and Agbaletu. These three competition shall be thoroughly monitored and conducted to give OGUN healthy kids, teeming youths and a more agile aged population.
“We shall also be pushing for the hosting right of the 21st National Sport festival in 2022 after upgrading the MKO stadium, Dipo dina, Muda Lawal, Ilaro stadium giving them a major face lift. we hope to work and support also our Gateway FC to make a return to the NPFL.
