Ahead of the 2023 Presidential Election, Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Uhahi says he will dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It was gathered that Umahi made the disclosure when members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) led by its chairman, Prince Uche Secondus paid him a courtesy visit on Tuesday.
Umahi said he would join the APC because the ruling party would protect the interest of the South-East in the 2023 elections.
The governor had told the PDP delegation that his decision to join the APC was irrevocable.
Sources at the meeting said the delegation prevailed on the governor not to join the APC, but Umahi was adamant insisting that the APC was planning to zone the 2023 Presidency to the South-East.
He was said to have promised to stay in the PDP if the party could make a pronouncement that it would zone the Presidency to the same zone.
The South-Eastern region have not produced a Nigerian president since the return to democracy in 1999.
