It is often said that barriers are broken for men and women of integrity, competence and capacity as nature and humanity usually intervene and pave ways for them for the sake of humanity.
This has been the case for the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly and the PDP standard-bearer for Ikwuano-Umuahia Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji.
Since the 2023 election campaigns commenced in September 2022. Clergymen, traditional rulers, students and workers unions among others have been giving their blessings to the Speaker for his ambition to represent the people of Ikwuano-Umuahia Federal Constituency at the National Assembly despite their special places in society.
Following in that footstep, the chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Ikwuano Chapter, Hon Tony Mpama, on Monday during the Speaker’s campaign rally in Ikwuano announced the total support of the people of his community, Ariam Eluelu, for the Speaker, saying the declaration of support for him was based on his demonstration of leadership beyond borders which has touched the lives of the people, irrespective of party affiliations or ethnic considerations, more than the way any other leader has done. He therefore promised to join in mobilising the electorate for the Speaker come February 25th.
On the APC chieftain’s report that his people of Ariam Eluelu need a transformer to help restore power in the area as they have been in darkness for a long time, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji said that although the notice was short as the elections were so near, he asked Hon Tony Mpama to come to his residence and take delivery of a transformer for his people immediately after the election, and promised that he would continue to take their welfare seriously even while at the National Assembly.
