Ahead of 2023 governorship election in Abia State, a political think tank group known Abia North Stakeholders for Peace and Development (ANSPEN), has resolved to support human rights lawyer, Etigwe Uwa (SAN) to emerge as the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the 2023 governoship election in Abia State.
The group comprising political leaders from the zone, technocrats, scholars, clerics, royal fathers in conjunction with other community associations in the zone such as Abia North Peace Foundation, ANPF, Ohafia Youths Initiative, said the decision to unite politically and adopt Etigwe Uwa (SAN), ahead of 2023 APGA governorship primary election became imperative because lack of political unity had previously cost the zone so much that it was said to be “politically disunited and torn apart”.
The group in a statement signed by Dr Kalu Ncheghe, President and Elder Chukwuemeka Awa Kalu, Secretary, among others, the group were confident that Uwa would succeed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu come 2023.
The group appealed to delegates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, to vote for Uwa during the primaries of the party to wrestle power from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
“We appeal to you as delegates in all good conscience to decide and define the future for Abians by voting to ensure that Etigwe Uwa (SAN) emerges as APGA gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 governoship election.”
According to the group, party members and delegates to APGA’s forthcoming governoship primaries are responsible for ensuring that Abia is returned to the path of greatness.
“The APGA will embark on its governoship primary election in a matter of days to elect a candidate that is worthy and versatile enough to emerge victorious come 2023 and replicate the giant strides recorded by Dee Sam Mbakwe and Dr. Michael Okpara,” the group explained.
“The future, therefore, lies on your shoulders as delegates to our party’s coming governoship primaries.
“Some of the aspirants are been sponsored by a former governor and his family as a means of getting a hold over Abia government and giving them a chance to run after 8 years when Abia North would finish its tenure and it would come back to Abia central where their son would automatically become the governor.”
The group said their decision could also truncate Etigwe Uwa’s burning passion to transform and reduce the chances of the party winning the governorship election in Abia State.
“It is either we decide a future of economic prosperity, financial re-engineering, human capital development and social inclusivity through massive investment in education, health and youth development in an Etigwe Uwa-led APGA government or we define a future of constant blame ringing with tales of woe,” the group further urged the delegates.
Mr. Etigwe Uwa SAN fought Pfizer, an international company that made vaccines for various viral diseases, used humans for testing and didn’t find for the damages caused by their actions. Pfizer tested their newly produced antibiotics on Nigerian Children in the early 90s and this viral caused lots of deaths, damages and mutations, but we’re overly neglected by the government of Nigeria.
Uwa, learnt this and took Pfizer to court for Sixteen years, even after the supreme court had decided to stay away from the case. Etigwe Uwa SAN, never gave up on the case even after so many years.
He finally won the case after many years and Pfizer was mandated to pay for all the damages they’ve caused millions of dollars.
