- On the night of Tuesday 29th November 2022, gunshots took over the Uratta, Port Harcourt road, and adjoining streets across the railway in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State.
The chaos was following the discovery of the corpse of a suspected leader of dreaded Aro Boys, a dreaded cult group, Mr Obinna Ukachukwu aka 300 Spartans or King Obinna, in a bush along Uratta Road.
AbaCityBlog correspondent gathered that from Ahuruonye Street, Nwaogu Street, Nnadede Street, Onyeike Street, Powerline by railway, Sunday Street, Wayo Street, Onwuma Street, Emeh Street, Mbadiugha Street, Jaja Street and St Philips Road, many residents closed their shops and locked their gates before 7:30 pm.
Further investigation revealed that 300 Spartans who hailed from Acha, in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State was killed by unknown persons in what has been described as cult rivalry war, but with several links to his agitation activities in Aba.
Facts further revealed that 300 Spartans who has a young wife, a six-year-old son and another three-month-old child has not been seen by anyone since Saturday 26th November 2022 until his corpse was seen in a nearby bush along Uratta Road decomposing on Tuesday evening.
On discovering his corpse, some armed boys said to be members of the dreaded Aro Boys started raining bullets in the air in all the aforementioned areas sending residents into serious panic and tension.
A thorough investigation by our correspondent revealed that Mr Ukachukwu, aka 300 Spartans was also a serious camp leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) faction and a spiritual leader of the camp he belonged to.
Many of those who mourned his demise described him as “a Biafran hero, spiritual leader, the man who gave his all for a new nation, and the last man standing.”
Meanwhile, it was gathered that the deceased wife popularly known as Anita Lollipop delivered a baby on the 7th of October 2022 which attracted a powerful dedication ceremony on the 23rd of October 2022 at No 4 Onyeike Street off Port Harcourt Road Aba, Abia State.
Many residents said that 300 Spartans, a man in his early 30s was a leader of the dreaded Aro Boys while some others described him as the leader of an IPOB faction under the leadership of Simon Ekpa.
Further investigation of his identity revealed that he has been a man under the knowledge that he is being trailed as he on several occasions had posted about saboteurs chasing him and describing himself as a dead man walking.
As at early morning of Wednesday 30th November 2022, many residents were still afraid of moving about their various businesses, as no Police presence was noticed in the area despite the all night shooting.
The Abia State Police command is yet to react to the death of 300 Spartans and the chaos the Aro Boys are currently causing around Uratta Road, Port Harcourt Road and adjoining streets as at when filling this story.
