We haven’t seen our national team play in over three months, and it’s safe to say we’ve missed our beloved Super Eagles. Our Eagles have made a strong start to their bid for a ticket to AFCON 2023, with a 2-1 comeback win over Sierra Leone and a 10-nil thrashing of Sao Tome and Principe.
We’re only a few hours away from seeing what the Super Eagles have in store for us, so here are four things we look forward to as Nigeria takes on Guinea-Bissau at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 5 p.m.
New Faces – The call-ups are one of the most exciting aspects of the international break; we anticipate and wait with bated breath to see who the coach will select to represent the country. We are excited about the regulars, but even more excited to see new names on the squad because we can all relate to the dream of wearing a Super Eagles jersey. We are excited to see the new Super Eagles called up by Jose Peseiro fulfill their childhood dreams.
Victor Oshimhen – This one is self-explanatory, but we’ll shalaye regardless. The Napoli forward has always been prolific in front of goal, but this season he has taken it to an entirely new level, scoring in almost every game and leading his team to the top of the league. He has 5 goals so far in the qualifiers and we hope to see him add to that tally on Friday.
Ndidi/Iheanacho Bromance – The Leicester pair have known each other for over a decade. Ndidi and Iheanacho were teammates for Nigeria at the 2013 African U-17 Championship and have remained friends ever since. At club and country level, they are almost always joined at the hip; we enjoy their jokes and hope to see more of them during the international break.
MTN’s Presence – MTN Nigeria’s presence at the stadium is one we have come to expect since MTN became the official telecommunications partner of the Super Eagles and other national football teams. MTN has become a fixture at the stadium when the Super Eagles play, providing much-needed support for the team while also thrilling football fans. We’re looking forward to seeing what MTN has in store for us at Moshood Abiola Stadium on Friday.
We’ve told you what we’re excited to see from the Super Eagles game on Friday; now tell us what you’re excited to see.
