BREAKING: Police Dispatch ‘Special Squad’ to Arrest Onofiok Luke

We can authoritatively report that a special squad of the Akwa Ibom police command led by Akpabio’s cousin, Idorenyin Akpabio, is set to arrest the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly, Barr Onofiok Luke this evening.

A high ranking police source revealed that the special squad within the Anti-robbery unit of the state police Command has been detailed to arrest the Speaker.

The source disclosed that an arrest warrant has been obtained from the force headquarters in Abuja by “Godswill Akpabio and Nsima Ekere”, nothing that the current CP was “too slow to act”.

The newly posted police commissioner to the state has been directed to effect an immediate arrest of the speaker, Igbere TV gathered.

No detail was given as to why the Speaker is going to be arrested on the eve of his election.

The speaker had severally raised alarm of plots by Sen. Akpabio yo have him arrested on trumped up charges.

In a statement earlier this week, the speaker through as statement signed by his Press Secretary, Kufre Okon, hinted that there were sinister plots by elements of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom state to frame him up and have him arrested.

“The plan is to ensure that the Speaker does not participate in Saturday’s election in which he is the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party for Etinan Federal Constituency election”, Okon had said.

Sen. Akpabio, a former governor of the state and Hon. Luke, have taken indirect swipe at each other in the course of the campaigns in the state.

Akpabio has three weeks ago boasted in Nsit Ubium, Luke’s local government area, that nothing the speaker was going to do was going to make him win the federal constituency seat.

Luke has continued to alleged that the former governor plans to use the police and the military to intimidate him and his supporters in the coming election. Yesterday at a meeting of stakeholders from Uyo Senatorial District, he warned that Akpabio was going to be held responsible should there be blood spill in the election.

Addressing the gathering, he said: “We’re determined that no matter the intimidation and harrasment, we will still play the right script which is to maintain peace and protect the rights of all Akwa Ibom people

“Election is not a do or die affair. If you’re popular, you’ll win election and if you’re not, go back to the house and try again next time. I want to urge the security agents to act in accordance to the law of the land.

“We gave Sen. Godswill Akpabio unwavering support to become the governor of Akwa Ibom State for 8 eight years and now he is using the name of the presidency to embark on illegal arrest.

“If the blood of any Akwa Ibom person is shed, we will hold Senator Godswill Akpabio responsible, we are not coward and we are not intimidated “
