Benjamin Kalu, a member of Federal House Of Representatives, representing Bende Federal Constituency, has frowned at the recent exclusion of the South-East from the federal key positions.

He spoke on Tuesday in Abuja at the after party of his inauguration as member of Federal House of Representatives.

According to him, “Igbos should sit up and stop alienating themselves from the mainstream politics.

He quoted that one of the problems with the Igbo nation is “pull him down syndrome”. He wondered how a fellow Igbo would be fighting his own brother because he is progressing.

Ben Kalu, also said that, though, the Igbo nation is not happy with the way they were excluded from the key positions, ranging from the Executives, Legislative, Judiciary, etc.

He further said it should teach us (Igbo) a lesson to sit up and face the reality.

Speaking further about what his constituency should expect from him, Hon. Kalu, said he has already piled up bills to sponsor at the floor of the green chamber which will have positive impact on the people of Bende.

According to him, though, he is not just only a rep member for Bende but for the entire nation. He noted that he will be working closely with the house leadership.

“I will sponsor bills that will affect my people positively, my people voted for me for hope of quality representation and that I will give. They saw the potential in me and I can never disappoint them.

“We have had cases of where our roads has been ravaged by floods. Some parts in my constituency, the road has cut off,to the extent that you can’t bring corpses home in a car unless you carried it in your head.

“The situation is getting worse day by day… That’s why I’m not going to the chamber to sleep, rather, to work, Kalu said.

On the emergence of the new speaker of the Federal House, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Hon. Kalu said the position is well deserved. He noted how he worked and contributed for the emergence of the speaker.
