Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has launched a taxi scheme tagged EASY TAXI PROGRAMME, a taxi scheme targeted at creating enabling environment for investors in the State.
Recall that ABACITYBLOG reported that Ikpeazu during the swearing-in ceremony of the new commissioner for Transport, Chief Kingsley Imaga – hinted that the state will soon launch a Taxi Scheme (Ina Aga Abia).
However, launching the taxi scheme at Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, the Governor charged the drivers, who he described as Abia ambassadors, to be highly professional in their driving, look neat and talk good about Abia State always.
Governor Ikpeazu said that the essence of initiating the taxi scheme was to enhance ‘ease of doing business’ in the State as the taxis would assist many people including investors in locating and getting to their appointment venues. He said the vehicles are for core drivers and not for politicians.
Speaking, the Commissioner for Transport, Chief Kingsley Imaga said it is the first time in the State, the special loan scheme was provided. He said it’s a sign that Governor Ikpeazu is the Governor for future.
In his speech, the General Manager of the scheme, Chief Nnamdi Balogu said the services of the taxi is for all, who are in need of it and could be attended to within ten minutes one calls the drivers. He equally said that the drivers would pay back instalmentally. Chief Balogu assured the Governor that his second term bid is real as he has empowered many people.
