- Following the completion of Enyimba Township Stadium, the peoples elephant will be returning home for their next game.
For over two years, Enyimba International Football Club have been playing their domestic and international cup home games at the J.U Esiene Stadium, Calabar, Cross River State and other stadia in the country after the incumbent Governor of the state Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu decided to embark on renovation work at the stadium.
Recall that Enyimba, Aba and Umuahia Township despite their importance to the state government were yet to get government attention after former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu’s regime carried out a massive renovation work on Umuahia and Aba stadia respectively.
The State Governor during several live radio programmes had assured Enyimba fans in Aba and the state that the contractor handling the stadium project Ebi Egbe, the Chief Executive Officer of Monimichelle Group would soon finish with the project as the state government has released funds for the completion of the renovation exercise.
While August 28 has been set for the return of Aba based football club to their natural habitat, it was gathered that the team would be training behind close door on Friday August 10, at the newly refurbished stadium ahead of their away clash with Djoliba in the CAF CC on Sunday19th of August.
The Aba football loving community were happy that their darling team was coming to train at the stadium for the first time after many years of absence, they were however not happy that they were not going to have a glimpse of the team during their training session.
Sources at the camp of Enyimba confirmed to this platform that the team were already in Aba at the time of filing this report.
