|Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu|
Young Leadership Association of Nigeria-YLAN has declared “WAR” on corruption in Abia State; by saying enough is enough.
Arising from General Executive meeting of the above reputable Youth Organization and in line with the ethics by which the group was formed; to effect change “NOW” for the future of our generation and the generations unborn.
We make bold to state that corruption of any kind should be fought to a standstill in Abia State and Nigeria at large no matter whose ass is gored.
Corruption is just an abstract and not a subject of theatrical skepticism, though it has been projected to mean a fact and subject of discourse that cannot be handled and/or touched. We the youths have concluded that corruption is an individual, a group of people, few bad apples that soils the apple cart while cleverly hiding under pretext of leadership and government machinery to perpetrate evil to the society to which they have sworn to project and protect. We have decided to touch corruption. We have decided to fight back on a clean sheet and we know we are going to win.
Leadership is about accountability and responsibility to the people. A leader is a steward of in-depth responsibility to who much have been given and is therefore expected. Leaders who represent the people do not represent their interest alone and so must be accountable to the people for whom he represents.
When such leaders fail to live up to the responsibility of protecting the interest of the constituents through proper accountability, That is what we have defined as “Corruption” which must be fought to a standstill for the good of our dear state and country Nigeria.
We are by this publication sending strong signal to our leaders of all categories to who have been laden with the responsibility of catering for the welfare of Abians in their entirety. We are the youths, we are the leaders of tomorrow and our tomorrow is “NOW” because today is the bedrock of tomorrow.
As law abiding citizens of this God’s own state, we are going to employ all legal means within the ambit of the law to fight back until we take back our destiny from the hands of those that fight hard to kill us with wanton neglect and unprecedented fury of indolence and corruption.
Once again, Abia State Young Leadership Association of Nigeria says:
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
We also want to use this medium to say thank you to Abia State Government and the Honorable commission of Finance, Hon. Obinna Oriaku for living up to their promise of not totally neglecting the salary payment of Abia Civil Servants.
The few months has touched many lives, but more needs to be done in that direction.
For treating our concern with utmost regard and respect, we promise to always support all government policies that will help better the lives of every Abian.
Together, we can make Abia Great Again.
