Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway has been completely cutoff

It’s no longer news that the federal road connecting Enugu cross Aba to Port Harcout, Rivers State has been completely cut off, thereby causing lots of havoc to the road users.

ABACITYBLOG recalled that the 3rd and 4th sections of the road totaling 61 kilometers was awarded in December 2014 for over N32 billion with a 24-month completion mandate but has gotten less or no attention up till date

It should also be recalled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, says it has begun investigations into failed federal road contracts in the South-East.

The commission added that it has invited all contractors awarded various road contracts by the federal government for questioning.

According to Mr. Johnson Babalola, the EFCC’s Zonal Head of Operations in Enugu, said the probe became necessary in view of the deplorable condition of the roads in the zone.

However, following the negligence of the road, motorists are calling on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency fix the failed portions of the Enugu/ Portharcourt expressway.

The portions which according to our investigation are completely cutoff and, have been in a bad state for over five years but becomes worse during every rainy season.
