#NotTooYoungToRunBill: Don’t expect power on a platter of gold – APC charges Youths

A gubernatorial hopeful under the APC in Gombe State, Alhaji Abubakar Habu Mu’azu, has told the Nigerian youths not to expect the older politicians to hand over power to them on a platter of gold.

Mu’azu stated this as he lauded the passage of the Not Too Young To Run Bill by the National Assembly.

Speaking after a stakeholders meeting with party executives from Kaltungo and Shongom local government areas, Mu’azu cautioned the youth not to expect the older generation to relinquish power to them easily. Dailytrust report.

While commending the National Assembly for the passage of the bill that reduced the age for contesting elective positions in the country, Mu’azu called on younger generation to peacefully use democratic means for such positions instead of waiting endlessly for power to be handed over to them.

“The passage of the bill is a very good development and I hope and pray the younger ones will come out and aspire. However, they should put it at the back of their mind that nobody will take the mantle of leadership and give it to them on a platter of gold. You have to work and fight for it in order to get it,” he advised.

Mu’azu added that most of the first republic leaders were below 50 years of age and performed creditably well. “I think if the younger ones are given the chance to rule today, we are going to have a very responsible generation,” he said.
