Quit Notice: We’re still looking for Arewa youths – Police

Igbo quit Notice
Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim –

The Nigerian police force has said they are still in search of the Northern Coalition groups under the aegis of Arewa Youths Forum who issued a 3 month ultimatum to Igbo people living in the north.

Abacityblog recalled that Mr. Shettima Yerima, the leader of Arewa forum has publicly stated that he is the one that issued the quit notice to Igbos, he also added that he had the backing of his elders (The Northern Elders Forum).

However, The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Jimoh Moshood, in an interview with the Punch Newspaper, explains why the police have yet to make arrests of Northern youths.

According to him; “When you talk of the Arewa youths who issued quit notice to Igbos, we are looking for them. Anybody who violates the law must be arrested.

“The IG has directed that no individual has the right to ask another Nigerian to relocate from or to any part of the country.

Igbo Quit Notice: I am not a coward, I get support from my elders – Shettima, leader of Arewa forum

“Everyone has the right to live and do business in any part of the country and to have property as stated in the constitution.

“The IG has issued a warning, he equally directed the Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the zone and CP in charge of the command that they should do everything to make sure that the threat is not actualised.

Contrary to Mr. Jimoh Moshood’s claim that police are still looking for the Arewa youths, what happens to Mr. Shettima Yerima, the leader of Arewa forum, who has publicly declared that he is the one that issued the quit notice with the help of his Northern elders?
