Chief Sam Onuigbo: South East needs infrastructure not Biafra

South East - Chief Sam Onuigbo

Chief Sam Onuigbo, Member representing Ikwuano/ Umuahia Federal Constituency of Abia State, has said that the South East needs infrastructural development and not Biafra.

He said poor infrastructure was affecting economic activities in the zone and the country at large.

Onuigbo said members of the National Assembly from the zone had been highlighting the fact that the South East had been discriminated against in terms of appointments and some known government policies.

“The South East was one the fastest developing regions  in the world in the early 1960’s, ahead of Singapore, South  Korea and even China, but unfortunately, we are where we are today because of wrong policies and discrimination against the zone.

“The truth is that any project cited in the zone will be for the benefit of all Nigerians living in the area, and not just the people of the South East alone.

“Remember we have Aba here, a city that is known for the ingenuity of its artisans; all they need is the right policy in terms of education, road and railway construction: then regular power supply and Aba alone can manufacture quality products for the country,” he said.

Onuigbo further said Nigeria at large was lagging behind by neglecting the South East, which he described as “an integral part of the country.”
