Months after flagged-off, the Abia State government has revealed that the ultra modern Osisioma flyover will be constructed into four lanes, two on either side.
The ultra modern Traffic Interchange popularly called the ‘Osisioma flyover‘ has been raised up to the first phase.
Onyebuchi Ememanka, aide to the Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, who visited the project scene quoted the Project Consultant, Engr. Njoku as saying that two major pillars will be cast by Monday next week.
According to him; “The structure will rest on a total of 16 mega pillars. Each pillar, which will be formed by the metal and civil works you see carries 10 piles of 25 meters each buried underground.
“There shall be eight pillars on either side. So on the whole, the structure will be carried by a total of 160 piles of 25 meters each.
“The Flyover shall have four lanes up, two on either side. Each side to be carried by 8 mega pillars.
“There shall be four lanes down, two on either side. The sides facing inward Abayi and the other side facing inward Osisioma shall have two lanes each.
He further stated that the Osisioma flyover will be bigger than any other interchange in the South East”.
Revealing when the project will be commissioned, Njoku quoted as saying, definitely by the end of this year, the major shape of the Flyover will be there for all to see”. Hopefully, by early next year, the project will be commissioned.
