Barack Obama supposedly had another love he proposed to before he met Michelle.

When he was a 25-year-old college grad living in Chicago, the future 44th president actually popped the question to Sheila Jager, twice, according to a new book.

The new biography, Rising Star, says Jager lived with a young Obama in the Windy City in the 1980s.

“In the winter of ’86 when we visited my parents, he asked me to marry him,” the book quotes Jager as saying.

But her mother thought that at 23, she was too young to get married, so she declined. However, they stayed together.

Obama proposed again in 1988, right before leaving for Harvard Law School, the book says. Again, Jager turned him down.

In the book, she told the author, David J. Garrow, “He became… so very ambitious very suddenly. I remember very clearly when this transformation happened, and I remember very specifically that by 1987, about a year into our relationship, he already had his sights on becoming president.”

She went on to become a professor of East Asian studies at Oberlin College in Ohio.

After the relationship ended, Obama moved on, eventually falling for Harvard Law School graduate Michelle Robinson, and the rest is history.

Obama, whose college years and upbringing were documented in his best-selling autobiography, Dreams From My Father, did not reference Jager.
