Aba, the commercial city of Abia State experienced a shocking news yesterday when unknown gunmen killed  five Vigilante men (as known as bakassi boys) in a broad daylight.

The incident which occurred before MCC Junction, by Seventh Day Adventist Church (Sabbath), opposite Toonak, claimed the life of three vigilante men at a spot, while two others who were admitted to Abia State Teaching Hospital for treatment, died afterward.

Investigations proved that those gunmen were kidnappers, who were coming back from operation, according to sources who identify their vehicle as they kidnapped a businessman (name still unknown) at Tonimas junction, opposite Bicoz Filling Station, along Enugu/Port Hacourt express way.

Abacityblog gathered that the vigilante men were coming back from Umuahia, the state capital, but met their sudden deaths when the gunmen accosted them, open fire on them, knowing fully well that they were security men.

The kidnappers shot at them thinking that the security men were after them, five of the vigilante officers were killed, excluding the driver.

Meanwhile, the body of the five vigilante men has been deposited to mortuary.

As at the time of filing this report, Calls put through to the headquarters of vigilante group in Umuahia are still unanswered.
