Ken Saro-Wiwa’s Son Dies in London


Ken Saro-Wiwa Jr, the eldest son of the late renowned playwright and Ogoni environmental rights activist, Ken Saro-Wiwa, has died.

Saro-Wiwa Jr, who was an international journalist and author, served as an adviser to former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, was believed to have died of complications from a stroke at a London hospital.

He was born in 1968, and was seen as carrying the legacy of his father who was hanged in 1995 after being convicted by a military tribunal over the murder of four local leaders the year before.

His father had led mass protests against oil pollution in Nigeria’s Ogoniland region and his execution sparked global outrage.
